Today has to be the most boring day I’ve had in months. I am staying busy, but the work I have is not exciting me in the least bit. If it weren’t for halfway interesting talk radio, I’d probably walk out and go lay in the middle of a lane of traffic.
I’m currently working on some elevation drawings of a funeral home we’re going to be building. I’ve been focusing on the South and East sides, and dread working on the other two sides.
I’m looking forward to the day when I can get my license to practice architecture. When I do, it probably won’t be long before I start a business of my own. I’ve always been a little more independent, and doing my own thing just seems like a natural step for me. It will be a few years though. I’m only about 1/3 of the way done with the nearly 6000 required hours I need in practice before I can take my registration exams, and those hours are the easiest to get. It’s possible to finish in 3 years, but most people seem to take between 5 and 10.
On top of my normal 8-5 today, I need to stick around for a little while to finish some drawings I told my Dad I’d do for him. He’s building an addition to his garage, and asked me to draw it for him so he can get a building permit. I hope I can get out of here by 5:30.
