From the Washington Times:
WACO, Texas — President Bush yesterday said he opposes a civilian project to monitor illegal aliens crossing the border, characterizing them as “vigilantes.”
He said he would pressure Congress to further loosen immigration law.
More than 1,000 people — including 30 pilots and their private planes — have volunteered for the Minuteman Project, beginning next month along the Arizona-Mexico border. Civilians will monitor the movement of illegal aliens for the month of April and report them to the Border Patrol.
…
The Minuteman Project was born out of a long-held perception among many residents that more Border Patrol agents are needed to handle the flow of illegal immigrants.Mr. Bush was criticized by both Republicans and Democrats earlier this month for failing to add 2,000 agents to the Border Patrol, as set out in the intelligence overhaul legislation he signed in December.
The president’s 2006 budget allows enough money to add only 210 agents for the U.S. borders with Canada and Mexico.
So both parties agree that we need more border agents, but Chairman Bush persists in sucking up to Vicente Fox. Great! Glad to know that the desires of foreign leaders trump the Constitution and the will of the people. I’m also glad to know that in this post-9/11 era when terrorists are coming across our southern border along side those coming to fleece our gernerous social program that the Chairman wishes to RELAX the patrols at the border. Add this to the many reasons I will be voting Constitution Party again in 2008. This story will be in the archives for those of you who ask why I don’t plan to vote for the Republican candidate, despite it being the “most important election of our times”, and your cries that “a vote for the Constitution Party candidate is a vote for Hillary”.
Hat Tip: Vox Popoli
I just wish the Constitution Party could gain some traction somewhere!
If the average “three monkey” as Vox calls them would pull his head out of his posterior, it wouldn’t take long for the Constitution Party to take over.
I’m confused about terminology here, if I witness a crime and call the authorities, does that make me a Thought Policeman, a Gestapo agent, or a vigilante?
Well the US needn’t worry too much about liberal Canadians rushing the border….we have enough problems keeping out the illegals who sign up for the US military to get an “ed-ju-ca-shun” and then run for OUR border when they realize they’ll actually have to do unpleasant things in Afghanistan and Iraq………
