While the official Postal week ended yesterday, the practical week ended today. It was a good day. I got done in 8.5 hours, which as you know is fast for me. When I sort the mail to be delivered, I put it in bins that are about a foot wide and 2.5 feet long. I normally take out about 12 of those bins, but today I got it all into 6.5 bins. Nice!
Tomorrow is going to be a nice day. I’m looking forward to relaxing all day. Daylight savings ends tonight, so we all get an extra hour of sleep. Also, the 6-0 Vikings play at home against the 2-4 Giants. As long as the Vikes don’t get cocky, this should be another win for them. I don’t put anything past them though, they can get jello-hands at any time without warning and forget how to catch and/or hold on to the ball.
Just when I think I’m getting caught up financially, I find out that road was longer than it first appeared. I finally got my pickup paid off in September, after 5 years of payments. I think there is some immutable law of physics that says that you have to put $X into your vehicle every month. If it’s not payments, it’s repairs. I get it paid off and the alternator goes out. I get that paid off and I take the mirror off with a mailbox. I get a new mirror and the heat goes out. I get that figured out (I hope at least) and the brakes wear out. What’s amazing is that it’s quickly turning into a money pit even though it’s got a year of extended warranty left! How can so many “normal wear and tear” things all go wrong at roughly the same time? Ok, the mirror isn’t normal wear and tear, but it’s not covered by the warranty either.
