Doh! I drove by a gas station on the way to lunch and saw that it was proced at $2.519. I KNEW I should stop. I’ll have to either fill up right after work, or just before I get home, as my tank can only get me as far as the 65 mile trip, and not much further.
Well, I just got word from a coworker who drove by that same station that they are at $2.719 DOH!!
I looked up the price at the local fuel bank, thinking I could go and buy right from the pump after work (they typically only change the prices after they close for the day). They must have mixed up regular unleaded with 100 octane low-lead aviation gas or jet fuel, because they are a healthy bit over $3 right now.
I knew that when the 300 gallons I bought at $1.979 ran out, I should get another 1-200 gallons to last me until the prices begin to drop again, as they usually do in the fall.
And Ogre, I’m not complaining about high prices, per-se. I’m kicking myself for not taking advantage of the tools at my disposal to get around the increases. Considering that I can get to work and back twice on a 14 gallon tank, I need to work harder at spending as little as possible on gas.
So YOU’RE the one hoarding it all!
(I’d hoard it, too, if I had somewhere to PUT it!)
No, I’m out. I WAS hoarding it.
That’s the cool thing about this place. You buy as much as you want and THEY store it until you use it. And it all costs a measly dollar above the price of the fuel itself (and that’s only for the card you need to access the account.)
The down side is that (as far as I can tell) they put no addatives in the gas. I noticed a sharp increase in my fuel economy when I went back to normal gas stations after my 300 gallons ran out.
You should have bought an older deisel instead of that Mini. My brother-in-law was making his own fuel for a while from fryer grease he’d get at fast food restaurants mixed with methonol and lye (or something like that). It was pretty cool! The car died though (for unrelated reasons), and he’s back to a gas drinker.
