I’m a little upset right now. This is the second day in a row that I’ve been getting comment spam from the same spammer. Everything is loan related, so “loan” went into the blacklist.
The problem is that any word with the letters l-o-a-n in them, in that order, will trip the filter and the comment will be tossed into the abyss.
Fortunately for us all, I don’t get many legitimate comments, so this isn’t likely to affect anyone.
Talk to Digital Cowboy. He’s using WordPress and he’s quite good at setting up filters. It’s probably done by using ‘regular expressions’ which can be googled for.
How about ” l-o-a-n ” instead of “l-o-a-n”?
Not a bad idea. Upon entering it into the blackist, it seems that only the leading space stuck. Hopefully that will be enough to work.
I’ve had the same problem over the past few days… until I realized that the IP address on all the spam coming in tonight was the same. I just tossed the IP into the blacklist in WordPress and it stopped it dead cold. So now I’m back to just normal spammage.
