I haven’t been around much lately. I was let go at work and March 24th was the last day at my job, so my normal routine was thrown completely out of whack. I’ve managed to keep up with Vox Popoli somehow, but haven’t been reading any other blogs. I am setting up RSS feeds in Thunderbird right now, so I should get back into the swing of things soon. I was used to reading up during my down time at work, be it over lunch or while waiting for my boss to find something for me to work on, so most of the feeds I read were on my work computer, which is why I have to go back and re-enter them now.
Hopefully my next job will keep me challenged (and busy). The only down side to that is less time to blog and read my favorite blogs. Though I was driving an hour each way every day for work, and should be able to find something within 20 minutes of home now, so I should have more time outside of work to do the things I enjoy (and the honey-do list as well 🙁 )
As far as finding another job, I am not worried at the moment. I have already turned down one job offer, and to be honest I haven’t even started looking for a job. A friend of mine is a head-hunter and happened to have a position come up at the same time I lost my last job. I am optimistic that the job market in the field of Architecture is a bit more favorable for someone in my position than it has been in my previous times of unemployment.
If I miss a day of Spurgeon, it’s because of the routine thing. I used to post both Morning and Evening just before heading off to work. Now that I am currently not heading off to work in the morning, I have to make a more concious effort to post. The up-side is that I have more time to READ the Spurgeon posts!
Oh, I have a question for you guys. Putting my blog URL on my resume; good idea or bad? On one hand, it shows off a different creative side, and I am trying to get a job in a creative field. On the other hand, people have had knowledge of their blogs by co-workers come back to bite them. I don’t really post anything that should offend an employer or potential employer other than the boldness of my Christianity. (Though if I do put it on my resume, I may move this post to drafts just because it does mention blogging at work, even though I have only done it at appropriate times).
Interesting question. I’m not sure.
If it’s being presented as a way to highlight creative design, then maybe, but realize that everything that’s posted here will most certainly be read by potential employers. I’m not saying there’s anything to be embarrassed about, but some employers could read it and get turned off by the content…but then again, maybe that’s a good thing, because you might not want to be employed by someone who would…
