I have a request. I have an email address listed in the navigation bar to the right. It’s written in javascript, so bots can’t read it, and I get very little spam from it. However, I occasionally get on other bloggers’ mailing lists because of it. It’s kind of the down side to being in blog alliances.

My request, please don’t add my address to your mailing list. That’s what you have a blog for, so that people who want to read what you write can, and those who don’t want to read it don’t have to be bothered. If you absolutely MUST have a mailing list, please have some respect and make the list “opt-in” and not “opt-out”. I can easily add you to my spam filter, and be done with your emails, but I would rather that neither of us went to the extra effort. It wastes your time, it wastes mine, and it wastes resources.

Another thing:

I AM NOT A REPUBLICAN

I am not going to vote Republican in November, and I am not going to vote for whomever the Republicans put up in 2008. I love my country, and I am a conservative. I refuse to vote for socialists, even if they put an ‘R’ behind their name. Getting emails about various candidates or politicians isn’t going to change my mind. It only makes me dread the usual arguments that are coming in two years, namely that “It’s the most important election of our time”.

To the vast majority of you who have a respectable sense of internet/blog etiquette, I apologize for wasting your time today.

  1. Drat! I was going to send you an email about a local Seattle candidate for President, named Soggy CoffeeFlannel. He’s conservative on 1 issue: Churches. He sees no reason why they should be shut down. In Seattle, that’s as conservative as it gets.
