Inspired by Trump’s new “social media” platform, I wanted to update my own social media situation. I still have a deactivated Fakebook account, I haven’t been booted from Twatter yet (any of my accounts,) though I rarely post to any of them, I occasionally scan Parler, Gab, and Telegram. I am still largely off social media when push comes to shove. I miss all the great friends I have spent years interacting with on Twitter. My goal in regards to staying off Twitter seems to be working, which is that denying their platform content and eyeballs is causing their stock price to decline. (Yeah, it’s not me, but the fact that there are millions of people like me is adding up.)
As for Trump’s new “platform,” it’s really just a blog, plain and simple. There are no other accounts on the site, and there’s no interaction. You can share his stuff with direct links to Fakebook and Twatter, but there’s nothing special about that. He’s doing exactly what I’ve been saying I’d like to see come back.
I may experiment over coming weeks with leaving a tab open to this site, which may cause me to post more often. It’s not so much that I care about being read, as much as half the stuff I’ve posted on Social Media for years is just liking to share my thoughts, whether or not anyone else is reading it. For interaction, I do like Telegram. If you’re on Telegram, see my link at the top under “Social Media,” and send me a “Hello.” Alternatively, leave a comment below before the comments section auto-closes.
Update (Feb. 15, 2022): I’ve added a Link Tree to easily share links to the various places to find me around the inter-webs.
