I got back from my four day trip to the BWCA last night. I got in around 9:00. It was a fun trip, but very tiring. The first day, we paddled 17 miles. I was ready to cry, I was so sore and tired. My left elbow was in extreme pain. Luckily, an Aleve I had packed in my gear remedied that. We camped the first night next to a shallow waterfall. The next day, we got up and paddled another eight miles. We camped at a site that has a lot of memories for my fiancée and her sister and cousin.
Day three, we did another eight miles, intending to get ourselves closer to our car, and not have to paddle a long day to get out. Our final campsite wasn’t pretty, but it got us to within seven miles of our car.
Our last day was probably the easiest. We paddled seven miles to get to the car, with only two short portages along the way. A pizza and a shower were high priorities for us, and the pizza was first on the list. We chowed down in Ely before turning in our rented canoe. Following that, we drove 4½ hours back home where the shower awaited.
We had a great time, and I look forward to doing it again in the future.
