I tend to keep my eyes and ears open to the business practices of the companies I buy products and services from, or may at some future time buy products and services from. I find out that many of the big names I would otherwise patronize take public stands on issues I disagree with, so the only recourse I have is to switch to their competitor.
That said, I came across this story at Fox News’ website that strengthens my support for both Coca-Cola and UPS. I prefer the taste of Coke over Pepsi, and now I see that they have a business policy I support as well. I suppose it helps that their are headquartered in the Bible Belt.
I’m thinking I’d like to start a list of businesses whose practices I like and dislike so I can better remember who I choose to do business with and why. Companies that I would otherwise patronize but avoid because of business policies include United Airlines (whom I have had to patronize since them going on my dislike list) and Kodak for their open support of homosexuality; and Ford, because of where they prefer to give money via the Ford Foundation (I should note that when I was a regular viewer of The O’Reilly Factor, Bill discussed this to a degree, but mentioned that Ford and the Ford Foundation are not directly related any longer, so there is no reason to boycott Ford for the practices of the Ford Foundation. I am skeptical.)
Pepsi is headquartered in the Bible Belt too.
