I spoke with the manager at the Post Office this morning. Yesterday I spoke with my immediate supervisor and was told I wasn’t on the schedule this Saturday. I was really happy, I could use the day off. When I got home from my regular job last night, I had a message from the manager. I called him this morning and he told me he wanted me to train on a second route, which he wanted me to work every other Saturday, when I’m not on the route I’ve been working since the beginning. With the long commutes every day, I have been totally exhausted since the day I got my job in Granite City, and I don’t think I can handle learning a new route. That’s why I gave him my two weeks notice this morning. I’ll be on an auxiliary route this Saturday, which is smaller than a normal route, then I’ll work the normal route the Saturday after Thanksgiving, which will be my last day. It will be nice to have my Saturdays back! It will be just as nice to have my Friday nights back.
In other news, I got my second Tivo hooked up last night. Right now it’s hooked up to the same TV as my original Tivo. That raised a minor complication. Both Tivos use the same remote control setup, so if I push a button for one Tivo, they both will respond. The simple solution was to cover the infrared receiver of the new one. When I get moved out, one will be in the living room and the other in the bedroom, so there won’t be a problem. My next task is to get them both hooked up to ethernet so I can have them update via the internet rather than dialing in through the phone.
Finally, and most interestingly, I did not win the lottery. I stopped in for gas this morning and had the clerk check my ticket. Not even $1. This means that I have to keep working for now. I’m a little bummed, I wanted to get my debts all paid off, and get my spring trip to Israel paid for. Maybe next time!
