Much is being said about yesterday’s S.C.O.T.U.S. ruling that it is unconstitutional to execute anyone under the age of 18, regardless of the nature of the crime committed. In continuation of a dangerous trend by S.C.O.T.U.S., they reached their 5-4 decision by reading the Constitution with glasses tainted by European opinion. If we were going to rely on the Europeans to form our opinion on how are laws should be framed and enforced, why did we waste our time and the lives of countless soldiers in the Revolutionary War, not to mention the countless wars to preserve our nation’s sovereignty since then?
This specific case adds another piece of evidence to the argument that our Constitutional Republic has become nothing more than a charade. We elect lawmakers and executives to State and Federal government simply to appease the will of the masses to “have a voice” in how our nation is run, but it is meaningless. Our nation is quickly becoming an oligarchy run by the five black robed thugs that hold the majority on the bench. The courts have shown over and over again that they have no problem whatsoever overturning the will of the people, nullifying the decisions of the Legislative and Executive branches, and those branches have shown no will to keep them in check.
The only real hope left, in my opinion, for a peaceful return to Constitutional government as the founders of this nation intended is a true grass-roots revolution beginning with the replacement of the House of Representatives with people who understand the Constitution and will go to the uttermost extreme measures allowed by the Constitution to make sure that the rest of government stays within the bounds of the law. The House controls every dollar spent by the government and must approve of all fiscal policies passed. They also hold the power of impeachment, which must be put into greater use if we are to hold on to the Republic through peaceful means.
As things are today, the Constitution is really nothing more than a souvenir of days gone by.
Indeed, I believe this great experiment with self-government may be over.
